課程概述	本課程分四大部分。第一部分為現代國家，主要使學生能認識及瞭解近年國家理論的趨勢。第二部分則探討當代發展型國家理論，檢視國家經濟、政治及社會等發展議題的相關後設理論。第三部分則探討全球化與第三世界國家發展理論與經驗，主要鎖定國際發展議題及發展理論的新趨勢。第四部分則以東亞國家發展為主題，希望透過在地及實例的觀察，檢驗前三部份的理論及經驗。
課程目標	熟悉當代發展理論、國家理論及發展型國家的趨勢，理解近代台灣、東亞及第三世界國家的國家發展經驗，並培養學生觀察及認識當代國際發展的多樣視角，進而幫助學生如何從國家及發展理論出發，尋找及研究本土、東亞及全球的國家發展議題。
